How to Spell "Champs-Élysées"

After the Louvre we made our way to the Champs-Élysées, which I do not know how to spell or pronounce without butchering it.

One of the fancy shops seemed very much to want our business (you might need to click on image to expand):

We did not buy the little handbags, adorned with JMW reproductions, but quite a display. This photo also gives us an early appearance of the black jacket Christian loaned me for this trip when we were in London. I came to southern Spain without a proper coat, and I wore Christian's loaner every day of our Christmas trip (and for some weeks afterward back in Spain). Thanks big brother!

I believe we stopped somewhere (Abby tells me it was Ladurée) for excellent takeaway hot chocolate and continued up the avenue toward the Arc de Triomphe.

Last time I was here, we did not climb up, but our tourist pass this time gave us entry. So up we went.

The view from the top is well worth the climb. You can see over the whole city.

You might notice how gray the skies were. But we were not too cold and it didn't snow. We were actually quite lucky with our winter weather.

At this point, though, we were tired. We had walked miles through the Louvre, and then trekked to the Arc de Triomphe. And, as it happens, we noticed on the way up the Champs-Élysées that a movie theater was showing the new Star Wars movie. Even though we had just seen that movie with Joe, Eva, and Dom (it was a surprise Christmas present from Joe), we wanted to see whether French subtitles instead of Spanish ones would make any difference. And this time it was in 3-D. (And our legs wanted rest.)

Happily, we went to an American movie in Paris.

On the way home, we spotted Santa without his reindeer.

A quick ride on the convenient Metro system, and we returned to the quiet streets of Île Saint-Louis on Christmas Eve.
