Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is not a recognized holiday here, although Black Friday is still a shopping thing, and many people wished us a happy Accion de Gracias. We enjoyed getting fewer emails from the US as our colleagues and students were not at work, and it contributed to the feeling that we should celebrate the holiday here too even though the kids had school. So we collected Charlotte & Cyrus after school and spent the afternoon with Joe (& Eva & Dom) and Vanessa & Carly up at the house of Jim & Maria in El Capricho, looking down over Almuñécar. As always, the view was stunning. We had a mostly traditional meal but swapped out the turkey for roasted chicken, and with lots of vegan sides. (Turns out mashed potatoes with soy milk and olive oil "butter" tasted almost the same as the milk and butter variety).
