Cy's report on the first day of school
[Cyrus writes:]
Helloooooooooooooo!!!! This is Cy again! Now, I have
to tell you how my first day of school went. So, it began as we walked into the gates of
the school, “Rio Verde”. We had come with our cousins Eva and Dominic. We
walked in and it was super crowded. Parents kissing kids, kids yelling their
head off, and the teachers yelled and immediately all the kids got into lines
with their parents behind them. I hurried over to my teacher’s line with Eva
because she was in my class. The Mom in the line next to me said in Spanish,
“is this a new student?” My dad replied, “Yes” Then, my line started going in.
I walked with Eva to the classroom. All the kids hurried to get good seats in
the room. Eva grabbed a table so she and I could sit down. It was right next to
the teacher’s desk. My teacher said, “We have a new student. Would you like to
introduce yourself?” I stood up and said, “Hello my name is Cyrus” then I sat
down. I was a bit embarrassed from that and to my more embarrassment, tears
welled up in my eyes. Eva noticed and helped me wipe my tears away with my
shirt. Luckily, no one noticed. Then my teacher spoke rapid fire Spanish and I
had no idea what he was saying so I just thought my own thoughts. I realized
that, no matter how nervous I was, since I did not speak the language, school
was pretty boring. Suddenly, Eva told me it was time for snack/recess. I had
gone to the restaurant nearby our house called, “La Italiana” and gotten
a little cookie/cracker thing. I had that for snack. Eva had nothing. The
cookie/cracker thing was about the size of my ring finger next to my pinkie
finger. It was not big. At recess, Eva told me about this club game she did.
The club was called, “the smurfs” this random kid in the grade designed
which smurf we would be like our age and our name. Then, we would walk around
the playground. I was smurf feno, which means boy who is normal. The guy tried
to make me smurf feo, but Eva and I convinced me to be smurf feno. Eva was
smurf fena, which means, girl who is normal. The guy was papa smurf and I had
no idea what the rest of the people where. Then he chose our ages. Eva was
seventeen, and I was sixteen. Then the guy changed Eva to age five. Then we
went back inside. The teacher, Antonio, talked a little more and then the
French teacher came in. she made everyone stand up and say, “Bonjour, ja ma pel
Cyrus” I know I probably spelled that wrong. Then the religion teacher came in
with the gym teacher and gave us all kisses. The religion teacher had dark grey
hair and was pretty short. She wore some red pieces of clothing. She asked me
if I was religious and I said no. she said sorry she asked and then left with
the gym teacher. The gym teacher had brightly blonde dyed hair and a hearing
aid. She wore a bright blue dress and wore lots of makeup. She had a very high
voice and was tall. When they left my teacher Antonio came in. he gave us all
worksheets to fill in our agenda he made at the front of the room. I made mine
rainbow and pretty. Then my teacher started talking rapid fire Spanish and I
got bored again. Then, my teacher passed out books to everyone except me and
they read the book out loud. I had no idea what they were saying. After that,
everyone stood up and got their bags. Eva told me it was time to go home. I got
my stuff and headed out the door. When my parents saw me they said, “how was
it?” “Great but a bit boring!” I replied. They laughed and I laughed and then
my mom took a picture of Eva, Dom, Charlotte, and I. then we went home and got
ice cream. It was a pretty successful first day at school.

Dear Cyrus, I love this post, and I am glad that the first day was OK!! I was thinking that AT LEAST if you have to spend a lot of time thinking about your own thoughts, it is YOUR interesting brain you are thinking with. You have a lot of pretty interesting thoughts! Imagine if you were one of the boring people, with only boring thoughts to sit with?! I love you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for writing about your first day at school, Cyrus. I really enjoy hearing from you how you are doing. You did great on your first day! Please write more updates about your school days during the coming weeks. When you are playing Smurfs, what language are you using? Love, Oma
ReplyDeleteWhen I am playing smurfs I don't really speak. Everyone else is using Spanish but Eva translates all of the information I need to know. But not for long! I am quickly picking up the basics of Spanish and so is charlotte. As I already said in this blog post, school is pretty boring for me. But now on the second day, French classes were longer, and we had gym. In gym we played kickball and dodgeball. I have all the folders I need for classes and so I am good on that. For Charlotte things are a bit harder because Eva is not there. But she has a girl who speaks a little English which makes it not as bad. I met her teacher today and he is pretty nice. His name is Antonio. He is tall.He has grey hair, glasses and a big mustache. My teacher who is also named Antonio, has a bald head, no glasses, mustache, and is sort of short.
ReplyDeleteLove, ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Cy, I was wondering if your class is just getting started with French. Or did the other kids have French classes last year as well? When I was 12, I went to a German-language school in Basel, and I had French lessons in German. So I can relate to what you are going through. Does Charlotte have French classes, also?
